Mr.Yama, a wealthy miser, discovers young Hanako in a cherry tree trying to pick cherries. He tells her the tree is his and is unwilling to share any of the tree's bounty. Mr. Yama accidentally swallows a cherry pit and lo and behold, a tree grows out of his head! A bizarre series of events follow including an encounter with mythical Japanese creatures, a Tengu, an Oni and a serpent! Humor, danger and excitement fill this tall tale told with Bunraku, shadow and blacklight puppets.
